I couldn’t think of a better way to bring in the new year than with this familiar face.
The Hello Kitty cake is a single tier, classic yellow cake with cream cheese frosting and covered in butter cream fondant.
The face on top is a gum paste cut out with fondant eyes and nose. The whiskers are also made of colored gum paste and the outline is done with Wilton’s Ready-To-Use Icing Tubes. Kitty’s bow is made from colored gum paste.
Around the base, the cake is finished with a white fondant ribbon and gum paste flowers. There is a colored gum paste “5”, that is accented in bling dots and edible sugar beads, housed among the flowers.
I absolutely love this cake. It was the perfect center piece for this little girl’s birthday. I had a wonderful time making it.
